Moscow Company Builds Biggest Habitable 3D Printed House

In Moscow, AMT-SPECAVIA, a 3D printing company has built the largest habitable building. It is located in Yaroslavl and has almost 300 square meters.

Though there are many buildings and houses being built by the help of 3D printing, they are not habitable. Whether they are too small to fit a family or too weak to actually stand the weather and climate of any country, it is not possible to actually live inside it. However, AMT-SPECAVIA Group wanted to change that.

“It was important for us to set a precedent—to show in practice that 3D construction technology is working,” commented Alexander Maslov, general director of the AMT-SPECAVIA Group. They have been building the home for about two years. Though not everything is 3D printed, most of the parts are. It is officially done and they are just installing plumbing, heating, and electricity.

Cancerous Jaw Replaced By First 3D Printed Jaw

The first ever 3D printed jaw has been installed to a woman to replace her cancer-full jaw. It was the doctors from Swansea’s Morriston Hospital that has created the technique to recreate the parts of the jaw involved by cancer via 3D printing. After developing a tumor, store worker Debbie Hawkins was the first-ever patient to receive the implant.

“When they told me what the procedure involved I was scared at first. I really didn’t know what to expect. But what they have done, and the aftercare I have received, has been absolutely amazing,” said Ms. Hawkins.

The procedure included bone grafts then added with 3D printed titanium implants. The hospital also used 3D technology to design the implant. One of the doctors said, “The titanium implant fits the patient’s jaw perfectly without the surgeon having to do any adjustment.”

Aectual To Place 3D Printed Flooring In An Amsterdam Airport

Looks like Schiphol Airport will be a lot prettier, thanks to Aectual, an architecture company based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It has shown its flooring design that is going to be installed in the said airport. Staff will start the installation this November.

The company will be using recycled plastic materials and “industrial XL 3D printing technology”. The CEO even boasted that the Aectual 3D printing robots can work all day all night, 24 hours a day and seven days a week.

Wearable Chargers Will Be 3D Printed

People nowadays can’t live without their smartphones. They use it for everything. They put their life to it. Good thing, scientists, and researchers at Brunel University London are doing a new project – wearable chargers.

A 3D printed supercapacitor that is super flexible, it can be worn by people. They will be using silicone and other cheap materials to start the project. Though there are many things like this before, this one is still different.

This project will only use one printer and one process for it to work. That way, it is much cheaper and it will be faster.

Silicone To Be Used More In 3D Printing

Silicones weren’t really that widely used as a filament or material for 3D printing. However, ACEO changed the whole thing last year.

The silicones made by ACEO were the first material that retained its properties like its temperature and biocompatibility plus its radiation resistance. Looks like there will be more advancing silicone 3D printing that will happen for ACEO.

Dr. Bernd Pachaly, Head of Project 3D Printing said, “This latest development is yet another milestone in ACEO‘s history.” He said that because silicones can be put together or mixed but can also be put into same places without mixing. It resulted in more designs and more creativity.
