NASA Picks AI Spacefactory For MARSHA

AI spacefactory, a New York-based technology firm has won NASA’s MARS 3D printing Habitat making a contest. The MARSHA project awarded a sum of $21,000 to the AI company.

NASA’s 3D-Printed Habitat Challenge in 2014 and is now in its third phase. AI spacefactory won 2^nd place. They have released the details of their design to the public.

4 Million Investment Pours Into 3D Printing Dental Implants

Evo has received a total of four million pounds as investments on its 3D printed dental implants. The London-based engineering company will be using the money to further improve and better the full jaw dental treatment.

According to Evo’s founder and CEO Dr. R P Vijayanarayanan BDS (Vijay), Evo is taking what’s possible in dentistry today far beyond the limits of what has previously been available. “We’ve combined state-of-the-art engineering, innovation, and first-class patient care to deliver a solution for the chronic types of tooth problems that inflict millions of people across the UK,” he said further.

Singapore And Airbus Partnership

Singapore’s Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) and Airbus partnered for the improvement of the country’s new fleet of A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (A330-MRTT) aircraft.

The two organizations will collaborate for the first time. An agreement was signed thus will create 3D printed parts for Singapore’s Air Force (RSAF) aircraft.

Air Force Utah Uses 3D Printing Technology For Replacement Parts

We have included in our weekly industry news multiple times before how the US Air Force has been using the 3D printing technology to further improve their jets and aircraft and save money and time.

This time, Utah branch is doing the same thing. They will be 3D printing aircraft and fighter jets, such as the F-35. The 388th Maintenance Group of the Hill Air Force Base in Utah, to be exact, was the one who began 3D printing-specific replacement parts for the F-35.

“We’re always driving for speed, safety, and quality. But cost-effectiveness is also a priority,” said 388th MG commander Col. Michael Miles. “This new tech has great cost-avoidance potential and provides rapid repair capabilities.”

Materialise 3D Prints Mammoth Bones

Mammoths were one of the many animals that became extinct after the ice age. Good thing, some of their bones were discovered resulting in scientists knowing animal like that existed before.

Now, the Belgium-based 3D printing company Materialise will be 3D printing a Mammoth bone to be displayed in a museum in Western Europe. The Mammoth of Lier, named for the Belgian city where it was discovered, will be 3D printed and displayed on October 30.
