FILOALFA’s Latest 3D Printing Material Thermec Zed
The newest 3D printing material could be a great replacement for Peek, according to its creator Filoalfa. Thermec Zed is a type of FDM thermoplastic that was developed in collaboration with DOMO Engineering Plastics, part of the DOMO Chemicals group.
The newest material was described as “unique properties, specially designed for industrial applications,” and called an “extremely resilient material, with excellent dimensional stability that is both sandable and paintable.”
More Colors For 3D Printed Things From Mimaki
There is usually a limit when it comes to 3D printing things in regards to their color. The colors are usually painted afterward or just plain and simple. However, thanks to Mimaki and their multicolor 3DUJ-553 3D printer.
This new 3D printer will be marketed mainly in Europe. It will have more colors, as many as 10 million colors in layers as fine as 20 microns. It is now available and was first made available in January.
Newly Opened 3D Printing Facilities in Biomedical Incubator
Texas and California will be getting a new 3D printing facility. The Watershed Idea Foundry, a company in Texas, has decided to expand its facilities with a 3D printing area.
They stated that they have opened one in California and one in Texas. However, the one in Texas is mainly about titanium 6Al4V additive manufacturing. “Additive manufacturing is the future of medical device design,” commented Nick Cordaro, CEO of Watershed Idea Foundry.
He added that “Watershed is combining its expertise in both areas to guide entrepreneurs and manufacturers through this innovative transition. These facilities will not only showcase additive manufacturing but also provide best practices, R&D, and training for the future of the industry.”
