3D Modeling Techniques For Prosthetics-Making
June 5, 2022What are the Different Types of 3D Printing Services and Why Should You Care?
June 5, 2022If you are a fan of 3D printing and have tried our service, you might be wondering what you can do for its aftercare. Well, 3D printed products like 3D printed wedding gifts and souvenirs are easy to maintain. It is easy for these things to stay clean and look like they are still fresh and new.
Just like other products that are made of plastic materials, 3D printed things are not easily broken. However, these things are not as strong as a steel and are not immune to destruction. Though they may not get completely destroyed, it can get scratches and that is not pretty to look at.
For other 3D printed products that use different filaments, some of them are more vulnerable than the plastic ones and therefore need more extra care to maintain its freshness.
Here are the top 3 things you should do with your 3D printed things for better maintenance.
1. Clean it regularly.
Just like every other thing in the world, it is better if it is kept clean. Though dust and other dirt do not really hurt the product itself, in the long run, it can get malleable. Moreover, 3D printed products are not all made of plastic, so the ones that aren’t like prosthetic limbs and feet can affect the user if it is not clean.
3d printed things are layered and have microscopic spaces in between them. Bacteria can build up in those spaces. Though those things cannot be thoroughly clean, there are still ways to clean most of those space.
2. Do not keep it in a hot place.
Since with 3D printing technology, these materials are heated to be formed in the shape it was programmed, it is not good to keep them in a place where direct sunlight may reach them. The Philippines is a tropical country and can get very hot during some time in a day, it may be harmful to the 3D printed product as it can melt.
We are not telling you to keep it in an airconditioned room. That is not needed. Just do not place it near windows or doors. However, do not place it somewhere air is not passing through. The cooler the place is, the better.
3. Do not submerge them in water.
Though the plastic ones are okay to get wet, there are 3D printing materials that cannot get wet. ABS, PLA, Nylon and the like can stand the water but other materials like gold, silver, and other elements cannot. Now, it is a different story if the water is hot. Hot water can also do damage to the plastic filaments, so never clean them with hot water.
Filaments like ABS and PLA are absorbent of water. Though it will not really destroy them, it will, somehow, might get reshaped. Better be safe than sorry.
These three practices are only the basic aftercare things that you can do. The most important thing is that you take care of them the way you take care of your other important and cherished things.
